The Expanding World of Rhune

TL;DR - Summer is here, Rhune is now available as part of the Savage Worlds, Rhune in 5e, the Mists of Akuma funded (and is in work), adventures are getting laid out, and we'll be sneaking around Gen Con in August.

Calling on the Spirit of Summer!

Before jumping into all things Rhune, let me wish everyone in the northern hemisphere of our tiny blue planet a very happy summer. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm over winter and excited to be able to just leave all my windows open for a while! Woooohoooo! Let the awesome summer spirits descend!

Savaging Rhune!

Hey, look, I made a thing (yes, that's the same cover for the Rhune: Dawn of Twilight Campaign Guide. Consider it a placeholder until the other covers are done. Yes, that was plural.)

Okay, now that I have that out of my system, let's talk Savage Rhune! Last week, we released the Rhune: Dawn of Twilight Savage Primer on DriveThruRPG.com (it's located here), people have reached out and asked, "Hey, do I need to also buy the Rhune: Dawn of Twilight Campaign Guide (for Pathfinder) or will we be getting one for Savage Worlds, as well?" The answer to that question is "depends." IF you're looking to start running a Rhune campaign set in SW right away, picking up the Rhune: Dawn of Twilight Savage Primer should be enough, but you will absolutely get a lot more background material from the Rhune: Dawn of Twilight Campaign Guide as well. That said, we're working to convert the latter fully and completely to the Savage Worlds, but it won't happen overnight. Right now, our goal is to have it ready next spring/summer of 2017, which means folks really itching to run stuff for Savage Worlds can either do their own conversions or wait patiently for us. If we can get it done before then (which would be awesome), I'll be beside myself, but all in all, I can't realistically say it will happen - especially since I'm still doing the base conversions for 5e.

So, to answer your questions, yes we plan to convert the Campaign Guide to Savage Worlds, it just won't be immediately. Let that information guide you. As an aside, we're very responsive to our fanbase, so don't be afraid to reach out and ask questions - we love answering them!

Rhune in 5e!

Folks following us on Facebook probably already know I started running the new 5e Rhune campaign a few weeks ago. It's been a fun challenge for everyone involved, especially considering how long I've been running Pathfinder games (my players keep giggling at me when I ask for Heal checks). So far my players are only 1st level (they just hit 2nd, but we haven't played since then), so a lot of things "feel" similar in terms of game play. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing how things play out at higher levels.

Because this is happening, I'm also converting a lot of the Pathfinder material to 5e in the process, so you're going to start seeing more and more of that content. Right now, it's mostly race-related material, but the class, magic, and technology material is next. I'm also a lucky guy, because I have a few friends working heavily in the 5e market (folks like Brian Berg of Total Party Kill Games) who are working with me to make sure everything we convert fits 5e mechanics.

This conversion is also taking place in the wake of funding the Mists of Akuma kickstarter (which I'll talk about next), so Mike Myler is converting some of the class material, as well.

The Mists of Akuma funded!

Thanks to the faith and fortitude of 200 very awesome backers, the Mists of Akuma funded on May 30th of this year. Now, we're all hard at work on finishing the book (and so far, it's looking very cool). Mike has put in the art orders and I'm watching some of them trickle back in, piece by piece. It's exciting to watch and I think this is going to be a fun project for fans of 5e when it delivers later this year. For my part, I'm working on two of the prefectures, a few oni (yay for Japanese demons), and some background info on the conflict between two of the island's races - the pyons and enjin.

The Beyond the Glittering Fane adventure arc is in work!

And speaking of adventures - yes, I am laying out the adventures for the rest of the Beyond the Glittering Fane adventure arc. It's been a little crazy over the past two weeks (with me signing and mailing out a lot of books), but with that process nearly complete (I'm mailing out the rest of the books to International backers this week), I can finally turn my attention to those adventures. Laying out adventures is not a quick process, and definitely not something I want to rush, but I do believe I'll be able to finish them before Gen Con - at least that's my hope. So, if you've been waiting to get your battle against the Thrall Lords on, don't fret - the time is quickly coming.

GenCon 2016

So GenCon is right around the corner (about 43 days away) and I, alongside other Rhune alumni, will be in attendance. So, if you're a fan and will be there, let me know. I'm not saying I'm going to be running Rhune games all week long (which I totally did not schedule and will be listing on Facebook instead), but if I were, well, you'd probably want to play. Or not. Your call. BUT, if you're a fan and plan on attending, let me know! I'd love to meet all of you! Also, I'll have books (as will John Reyst of the Open Gaming Store). So, you know, come find me and stuff.

And that, folks, concludes this broadcast message. I hope all of you have a wonderful week.

Cheers, Jaye
