Dubai Comic Con, Gen Con, and more….

Things are a little crazy around the office…

But that’s to be expected when your patron is the Lil’ Lord of Thunder and Time-Traveling Bunnies, ”Stormy!” Really, though, there’s a lot going on. I’m tempted to wax on poetic about our plans, but I think keeping things simple will suffice.

  • This month, I aim to misbehave. I’m leaving tomorrow for the Middle East Film & Comic Con. I’m heading down to meet up with some fellow geeks, network a little, and to see how the gamers down in Dubai get down. There may also be some beverages. ;)
  • Later this month, I plan to upload and release a 2-page character sheet for Rhune: Dawn of Twilight. This will be a printable PDF and available in either color or black & white. It will be incorporated into future products, as well.
  • Later this month, we (and by we, I mean the whole team) are releasing our next product, The Clockwork Adept, a small but, information-packed PDF that gives folks some awesome clockwork/stormpunk options for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Do check it out!
  • Toward the end of May, we’re pushing to finally release the long-awaited Children of the Wode, a project that will showcase the work of not only myself, but also that of two RPG Superstar finalists; Will Cooper (2012) and Joshua Kitchens (2010, 2013). As you might imagine, I’m pretty excited about this! It’ll feature new art from Mr. Terry Maranda, as well as new information (flavor and mechanics) for both the ælves and aryandai of Rhune: Dawn of Twilight.
  • I’ll just let you know now – we’re going to Gen Con again this year and we’re going to have ourselves a proper day of Rhune: Dawn of Twilight madness. I’m going to be running some scenarios for fans (free, of course), as well as talking about the setting, our plans for the future, and discussing what makes Rhune fun. Will Cooper will be flying from far, far, far away to join us, too. I won’t make any promises, but I suspect it’ll be fun. I’ll share more info as the time draws closer.
  • I hate to be the one to say it, but we’ve stalled a bit on the Storm Bunny Presents line. I had hoped to release something for March and April, but we’re so swamped at the moment that it is proving to be difficult. I truly hope to have it back on track my May.
  • And speaking of tracks… if you haven’t seen the awesome Kickstarter that Black Star Studios is running, you should probably check it out. Not only are the shooting for the stars again (pun intended), they’ve managed to bring on some incredible talent, including Forgotten Realms legend Ed Greenwood. (And personally, I can’t tell you how jealous I’d be if I weren’t already part of this project).

And finally, a request. I know we have Storm Bunny fans out there, people in our corner who are cheering us on! If you want to show your support, consider grabbing one of our tees or a journal. Of course, you should also consider getting your very own Stormy, too (it’s soooo cool, I had to mention it twice in one post)! Or, if you’re not into supporting us with swag, just spread the word. Tell your friends about us, share our posts on Facebook (or G+), and let gamers know you don’t just like us, you love us! (or at least would be seen in public with us).

;)

And that. folks, is my early April update!
I’ll write more, soon. Promise.

Now I’m off to misbehave.

Cheers,
Jaye

New Art! Clockwork Adepti!

Arenthal Galaron….

We’re already midway through February and I feel like I’m juggling several projects – mostly because I am. That said, I have new art! This piece by Terry Maranda is based on one of the characters in my home game. He’s a clockwork elven wizard and the absolute perfect candidate for levels in the Clockwork Adept. Which is awesome, because a) clockwork adepti are awesome, b) sword & stave combos for casters is cool, and c) we’re going to be releasing an updated version of the prestige class very, very shortly (March, 2013). The small but concise PDF will feature this piece, as well as more awesome art.

We’re also going to release another Storm Bunny Presents this month, so keep your eyes peeled toward the end of the month! While we’re still new at this, I’m hoping our first 5-star review will set the standard for future releases!

Stormy!!!!!!

2013 and beyond…

Well, January is almost over and I feel like I’ve a lot of room for progress. I had a lot I wanted to release this month, but life snuck up and caught me flat-footed. So, I spun around, a dagger in my side, and dealt with it. I won the battle, but it took a few more rounds than I anticipated. Now, I’ve got to hustle a bit to catch up. Such is life. (stupid rogue).

First things first – Stormy is now live and available for purchase. He’s an adorable little monster – the Lil’ Lord of Thunder and Time-Traveling Bunnies! The very talented folks over at Tyler Ponch Toys are responsible for creating the shell he’ll be using here on the Prime-Material Plane… Don’t check out just Stormy, either. They’ve a whole host of  zoological wonders – both bizarre and wondrous – to excite your imagination  (Hint; Two-Headed Camels).

Early next month, we’ll be releasing the very first ‘Storm Bunny Presents’ PDF and I’me super excited about it. It’s going to be a sharp line and I’m pleased with its overall look. Our layout guru, Stephen Wark, worked his magic on the first piece!

In other news, we’re still plugging away on Children of the Wode. I’m hoping to have it done by the end of February, although March is probably a far more realistic release date.

Well, that’s all for now. I’ve a lot of writing ahead of me, so I should probably go.

Cheers,

Jaye

Playing catch-up

So it’s been a bit….

So I managed to sneak out of the office and spend Halloween in Prague. It was an awesome, awe-inspiring trip on a host of levels. The locals were amazing, I was surrounded by good friends, the beer was inexpensive, and the food outstanding. Of course, the architecture and history of the place made it all the more potent, as well. As the former seat of the Holy Roman Empire and the one-time center of Europe, the city was a literal feast for the eyes. I could have gotten lost there. It was that amazing. Coming back to the desert after all of that? Sort of a ‘let down.’ Worse, I got hit hard with the flu a day after returning. This led into a few weeks of playing additional ‘catch up.’ And before I knew it, it was Thanksgiving. So, believe me, it’s been a rough few months in the trenches for our latest projects. Thankfully, I have an awesome team of mega-creative and dedicated collaborators who want to see this project succeed, so we still managed to move forward without too much guidance from my end. Man, it’s awesome to work with true professionals!

While we’ve been away, Mr. Stephen Wark has updated (and we’ve reloaded) both Automata: Guide to the Awakened and Of Stone, Stave, and Heart: A Guide to the Runes for GMs. Both of these books are vastly improved, the former with new content from Mr. Will Cooper (RPG Superstar, Top 16, 2012). The latter had a few, minor graphic changes but otherwise remains solid (and hopefully engaging).

So, we’re in the final stages of layout on Children of the Hammer. Right this very minute, in the snowy lands of Canada, Mr. Stephen Wark is chained to his desk, the flames of need inspiring every mouse click, possibly threatening his very sanity (doesn’t this sound promising), finishing up the new document. Once we see that (cracks whip), we’re going into secondary edits and fixing any last minute text changes (and there always are). Then, we’re out the door! We hope to have this glorious little PDF out to reviewers by January first and in your hands by the 10th.

Then, Stephen is moving on to  the first of Storm Bunny Presents. We’re looking at releasing this later in January.

Finally, we’re hoping to have Children of the Wode ready for release by early March. We know it’s not a lot of time, (especially given the holiday season and our slow march), but we’ve got to have goals! Then, once that releases, we’re hitting the road running for summer shenanigans.

And then (“No ‘and, then!!!’)

I’ve got some ambitious goals for 2013. In a nutshell, I want to get some creative, Rhune-inspired fiction out, update and release a free players primer (the old one is rather dated), and possibly launch a Kickstarter for World Guide. I had originally wanted to do a planar guide, but I’m more inclined to add it to the World Guide. Of course, this guide will include a host of the new material we’ve been play testing, a lengthy discussion on story-telling in Rhune: Dawn of Twilight, and a whole host of stunning cartography and art from the likes of Jon Roberts, Rob Lopatto (I really need to make this gentleman a page), and Terry Maranda.

In closing, things are going to be a hectic sort of fun this year…

I’m perfectly okay with that, though. Better busy than boring I always say.

Oh, and let me leave you with this little bit from Children of the Hammer.

Harvest Blessing

School necromancy; Level cleric 1, druid 1

Casting Time 1 standard action

Components V, S, M (a bit of salt crystal, wrapped in fresh linen, placed with the food)

Range touch

Target food touched

Duration 2 day/level

Saving Throw Will negates (object); Spell Resistance yes (object)

You preserve food so that it does not decay. When you cast this spell, you select a quantity of fresh food (up to 2 lbs. per caster level) and wrap a bit of nature’s own life force around it, extending its wholesomeness and staving off decay. While under the effect of this spell, food remains fresh, retains its original flavor, and provides nourishment or magical effects as if it were as new as when you harvested or prepared it.

Well, that’s it for now. I truly hope your holidays shine this season!

Cheers,

Jaye

Super excited!!

Okay guys, so I’ve got to let this slip…

New art came in this morning and it’s hot. The product of a very talented Mr. R. Lapotto, this is a small look at the deck plans for The Sun’s Gem, the City-States of Vallinar’s sole airship. It’s a work of wonder, fashioned from aether, lightning and magic; the most second most famous floating landmark in the whole campaign setting (fyi, it’s located above the City of Damas). It’s one of those unique parts of Rhune: Dawn of Twilight, the sort of epic transportation that at least one or two of my playtesters keep telling me they’re going to steal. All Grand Theft Airship jokes aside, this is one of my personal favorites in the setting. Because, while tons of steampunk settings have filled their skies with airships, this is the only one of its kind.

It can (and should) be the centerpiece to any Rhune: Dawn of Twilight campaign!

So, why don’t we take a peek at this beauty!

The Sun's Gem

This is a reduced crop of the much larger, much more detailed ship!

As of right now, I’m only showing a portion of the much larger, much more elaborate image. I could go on and on about how awesome this image is, but if you’re a Rhune fan, you probably already know we don’t pull any punches when it comes to image! My hat goes off to Rob and I can hardly wait to see the final version.

Yes, this will have statistics in the game. Yes, your players will probably want to steal it, too.

In the meantime, I want to share something with each of you. It’s a bit of a personal note, but fits perfectly with the theme of this post. It’s also one of the factors that inspired The Sun’s Gem. If you’re a fan of VNV Nation, you probably know what’s coming next. If not, I leave this little gem for you!

Cheers,
Jaye
